Operators are getting press about their decision to serve XPress by Smart Cup. The single-serve, portable and disposable French press serves a premium cup of coffee. The following is the article from Ft. Myers Florida Weekly…
Just when you think Bennett’s Fresh Roast is as good as it can get, owner Bob Grissinger (aka former morning DJ C. David Bennett) finds something new to excite and amaze coffee lovers.
His latest innovation is a single-use, single-serve French press coffee cup. The lid looks much like any plastic cup cover except for the plunger in the middle. The 16-ounce cup is filled with freshly ground coffee and hot water, then the French press lid gets snapped on. After the coffee steeps a few minutes, you press down on the plunger, which causes the grounds to be trapped beneath a mesh screen at the bottom of the cup. A second screen in the lid keeps any stray grounds from escaping. Once the coffee has steeped, you can add sugar and/or milk then snap the top back in place and enjoy.
Coffee brewed this way captures more of the subtle flavors and essential oils.
“Enthusiasts feel that French press coffee is the best way to experience the flavor and aroma of quality coffees,” he says. “You have to see this thing to believe it. This is really an exciting new product.”

Cups of French press coffee start at $3.78 plus tax. Bennett’s is at 2011 Bayside Parkway, just off West First Street, in downtown Fort Myers. It’s open 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Call 332-0077.
